2nd post
I've made several beats this week. I made an EDM (electronic dance music) type beat, a rock and roll type beat and a "trap" type beat. my favorite was surprisingly the rock and roll beat, because I found a guitar sound that I really liked and made a cool pattern with it.
something new I learned about garage band was that it actually shows the music that you create in musical notation, as well as on the track. this was funny to me, because while I thought that was interesting, it offered little help to be because I have no clue how to read music.
three goals:
1. to master beat making on garage band
2. to be able to make beats for different genres of music
3. be able to make beats that are similar to those of a particular artist
I have probably made the most progress towards goal #2, because I have made a variety of beats for varying genres of music. as far as goal one, I am working towards this, but there are still new functions that I have yet to try out in garage band that could impact my beats greatly. I am excited to dig deeper into this next week!
I dont really have any questions, but one thing I still want to learn more about is how to capture a particular artists sound (beat wise), which is my 3rd goal. I will be looking into this more in the upcoming week, and studying the artists whose instrumentals I will try to make my beats resemble.

Jonah. I can't wait to hear your EDM and other beats you have created. If you have a SoundCloud account that you could link to, or link your beats to Google Drive might work. Congrats on what you have created and what you are learning so far.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I want to hear them, too! Jonah, do you have any DJ's or producers you get a lot of inspiration from?
