2nd post

I've made several beats this week. I made an EDM (electronic dance music) type beat, a rock and roll type beat and a "trap" type beat. my favorite was surprisingly the rock and roll beat, because I found a guitar sound that I really liked and made a cool pattern with it.

something new I learned about garage band was that it actually shows the music that you create in musical notation, as well as on the track. this was funny to me, because while I thought that was interesting, it offered little help to be because I have no clue how to read music.

three goals:

1. to master beat making on garage band

2. to be able to make beats for different genres of music

3. be able to make beats that are similar to those of a particular artist

I have probably made the most progress towards goal #2, because I have made a variety of beats for varying genres of music. as far as goal one, I am working towards this, but there are still new functions that I have yet to try out in garage band that could impact my beats greatly. I am excited to dig deeper into this next week!

I dont really have any questions, but one thing I still want to learn more about is how to capture a particular artists sound (beat wise), which is my 3rd goal. I will be looking into this more in the upcoming week, and studying the artists whose instrumentals I will try to make my beats resemble.

for some reason Blogger is not allowing me to insert a screenshot of my beat, this is all that comes up.

  1. Jonah. I can't wait to hear your EDM and other beats you have created. If you have a SoundCloud account that you could link to, or link your beats to Google Drive might work. Congrats on what you have created and what you are learning so far.

  2. Yeah, I want to hear them, too! Jonah, do you have any DJ's or producers you get a lot of inspiration from?
